They are looking for a hardworking, motivated editor who is as comfortable writing clean, accurate, timely copy, as they are mentoring journalists, managing a website, and taking responsibility for growing the readership.
You'll be working with a small, friendly team, with ambition and high standards.
Responsibilities:
- Writing, editing, commissioning, subbing, first-rate copy
- Preparing weekly and monthly email newsletters for a growing readership
- Building a network of local government finance contacts
- Regular telephone conversations and online meetings with local government contacts, building stories and relationships
- Mentoring and managing a small team of journalists and content managers
- Running a regular advisory board and managing external bloggers/contributors
- Attending events and representing the title in other forums/outlets
- Production of quarterly partner content report, working with clients and the commercial team
- Uploading content to the website to an agreed style and to the highest online publishing standards
- Managing the editorial planner in a shared workflow system (Trello)
- Working with web developers and graphic designers
- Presenting a monthly webcast
Experience:
- 4/5 years’ experience in B2B journalism (preferably financial)
- Min 1-year experience at editor level or 2 yrs at deputy-editor, news editor level
- NCTJ accredited
Skills:
- Excellent journalistic writing and proof-reading skills
- A confident telephone manner and the ability to build a network
- Technical competence across CMS systems
- An understanding of SEO and measures the editorial team can take to improve SEO
- A flexible and collaborative approach to working in a small business alongside the conference and management team
