Freelance Creative Content Director (Hands-On)
3-month contract | ASAP start | Hybrid (3:2 London) | £400+ DOE
There’s a certain kind of role that doesn’t come around often.
The kind where you’re not just shaping the work - you’re in it. Writing it. Building it. Stress-testing it. Making it better.
This is one of those roles.
An independent creative agency is looking for a hands-on Creative Content Director to lead a key client account. Not from a distance but right at the centre of the work. From first thought through to final execution.
This is a chance to step into a high-impact position early, working alongside senior creative leadership, with the space (and expectation) to genuinely influence what gets made and how it shows up in the world.
Why this one stands out
- Proper hands-on creative leadership
- Work that spans campaigns, content, film, digital and social
- A team that values ideas, craft and clarity over noise
- The opportunity to help shape output at a pivotal growth moment
- A genuinely collaborative environment - strategy, creative and production working as oneThe role
They’re looking for someone who can lead and do.
Someone who can take a brief, find the angle, build the idea and then roll their sleeves up to make sure it lands exactly as it should.
You’ll:
- Lead end-to-end creative development from concept to delivery
- Create campaignable ideas that travel across channels
- Write, shape and refine scripts, messaging and narratives
- Partner closely with design, strategy and production to bring ideas to life
- Present work confidently and sell the thinking behind it
- Stay close to the detail ensuring everything feels sharp, considered and on point
This is a role for someone who cares about the work and shows it in how they craft it.
What they’re looking for
- Proven experience in a Creative Director / Content Director position within an agency
- A portfolio that shows brand-building, multi-channel thinking
- Strong copy and storytelling instincts - this is a copy-led role
- The ability to move seamlessly between big ideas and executional detail
- Confidence in client conversations - able to guide, challenge and influence
- A collaborative mindset - low ego, high standards
Most importantly: someone who’s still close to the craft and wants to stay that way.
If you’re a Creative Content Director who prefers being in the work rather than reviewing it from the sidelines, this will feel like a very good use of your next three months.
